Summer 2019 Information
YCC + Summer League registration is now online right here!
VU YCC tryouts will run from 9am to Noon on Saturday, June 8th. We will be extending tryouts through that Tuesday and Friday practice, but will not be practicing or holding tryouts on June 9th.
All league events will take place at the Oxbow Marina in Northampton, MA.
WHAT’S NEW for 2019?
We have evolved our former Youth Summer League and YCC Team structures to provide a more comprehensive Team experience! Instead of a league, the U20 Teams will begin by holding tryouts to fill a maximum roster of 21 players for each. After that, each Team will continue practicing throughout the summer with a full complement of YCC rostered players AND practice players. At the end of the summer, the YCC rostered players will travel to Blaine, MN to represent their Team!
While our YCC travel roster may have limited spots, we are excited to welcome all players into out program and there will be NO CUTs made from our practice team.
Team Info:
- All YCC eligible players who are interested in playing this summer are invited to tryout.
- Tryouts will begin the weekend of June 8th-9th (Exact times TBD) and extend through the June 15th for those players who are not able to attend the initial tryout weekend.
- In order to be eligible to travel with the team to YCCs, players must attend AT LEAST 8 of 12 practice sessions prior to the tournament in Blaine, Minnesota this August.
- There will be approximately 21 players per team.
Eligibility
- All players must not turn 20 or older during 2019.
- All players must be USA Ultimate members. [Paid players due, signed online waiver]
- Players must submit a completed medical authorization form by their first league event.
- All players must abide by all USAU eligibility rules.
- New since 2018: All players must have been enrolled in high school during the academic year immediately preceding the USAU Youth Club Championships. This means that college players are no longer allowed to participate on YCC teams. You can read more about USA Ultimate’s YCC U20 player requirements right here.
- Certain exceptions to the above rules may be granted on a case by case basis. Contact Joe Costello for more information at joe.costello2@gmail.com.
The practice player fee is $125.
The YCC player fee will be around $525 and is due by July 1st. This covers tournament fees, jerseys, housing, vans, coaches, VU summer league registration, almost all player meals, coach stipends, and many other miscellaneous costs associated with bringing 40+ players to MN. Players are also responsible for the cost of their flight to the event. The cost of flights range from ~$300 to ~$500. If you’d like to apply for financial aid, please contact Josh Seamon at jseamon@gmail.com.
The payment for participating on a VU YCC team is not yet due. Team members will be notified in mid-June about how to make the player payment.

FAQ:
1) Since there is no league anymore, what am I signing up for?
You are signing up to play for a Team all summer, as either a practice player or as a YCC rostered player.
2) What do I do if I want to play this summer but don’t want to go to YCCs in Blaine?
Sign up as a practice player! You will still be able to play with your Team all summer, building skills and growing as a player and for a much smaller player fee.
3) What if I want to go to YCCs in Blaine, but I can’t make many of the practices?
There is an expectation that YCC rostered players attend most of their Team practices. If you have special circumstances that are in conflict with the Team schedule, please indicate that in your application and contact the coaches for further explanation.
