women’s pro ultimate at its finest!

The New York Gridlock Ultimate (NYGL), the Amherst Invitational High School Ultimate Tournament,  Valley Ultimate, and NUTC (National Ultimate Training Camp) are collaborating to bring the 1st Annual “Valley Showcase Game – Women’s Pro Ultimate at its Finest” to the Pioneer Valley Saturday, April 29th at 7pm at in South Hadley, MA

This regular-season Premier Ultimate League (PUL)  game is NYGL’s Home Opener, on the road.  The game will be a highly competitive game featuring PUL East Division teams, NYGL and Portland Rising. 

The inspiration for the Valley Showcase came from last year’s exhibition game. We intend this showcase to inspire a continued collaboration between the NYGL, Rising, the Amherst Invite, Valley Ultimate, and NUTC to support and grow women’s ultimate now and into the future.   We expect this game to draw the biggest audience ever for a single-event Ultimate frisbee game in the Pioneer Valley.

Featuring nearly a dozen players who grew up or currently live in western Mass, this game will be both a home-coming celebration for the local Pioneer Valley Ultimate community and a statement of the reach of women’s professional Ultimate as a spectator-friendly fun, engaging, and inspiring sporting event.

The game will be played at the South Hadley HS stadium, under the lights and on turf. We expect there will be local food vendors to provide dinner for people to make this an evening. There will be a great half-time show, lively local personalities in the PA booth, and a DJ to keep the party going. Players will be available after the game for autographs and to meet & greet.

Valley Ultimate will be acting as a support coordinator for the NYGL and the AI to engage as many local groups who we trust will be interested in sponsoring and/or supporting this event – including local disc orgs (NUTC, Ultimate Good), youth teams (4 Rivers, NHS, ARHS),  and local club (Starling, Sprout), & college (Mt. Holyoke, Smith, Amherst College, UMASS) teams, who might be interested in providing volunteer support, outreach, or sponsorship to make this event a local “happening” of community, Ultimate, and women’s athletics.

We are confident that people in the Pioneer Valley, Boston area, Hudson Valley, and the greater New York Metropolitan area will be interested in hearing about, supporting, and or attending this event.
