FAQ

What Is the Valley Ultimate Fall League?

The Valley Ultimate Fall League is a coed youth program designed for high school players who wish to continue playing in the fall season. This league is intended to be a fun, competitive environment that will help players of all experience levels develop their skills.

What happened to Cut & Run?

The Valley Ultimate Fall League is replacing Cut & Run.  The new league offers more Ultimate and more coaching to more players.  We will still be selecting Cut & Run All Star teams for local all-star games on Saturday October 3 and the Sharon Tournament on October 25.  See below for more details.

Who is eligible to play in the league?

The league is open to all high school students in the region (grades 9 through 12). There will be a maximum of 90 players admitted to this league on a first come, first-served basis.

When can I register?

Online registration will open on August 1 2015. Instructions are below and on the Valley Ultimate web page.

What are the dates of the league?

The league will run on six consecutive Sundays in the fall from Sunday September 13 through Sunday October 18. In addition, some league members will be invited to play on the Cut & Run All Star teams in the Sharon (MA) SOTG Tournament on Sunday October 25.

Do I need to attend all of the sessions?

Attendance at all sessions is strongly encouraged, but if you need to miss one or two sessions you can still play in the league.  Attendance is one of the factors we will use when we select the Cut & Run All Star teams.

How long are the sessions?

All sessions are from 1 pm to 3:30 pm. Each session has a 60 minute practice, followed by a 90 minute game.

Who is the League Director?

Jim Pistrang is the league director.

Who are the coaches?

All of our coaches are experienced and have confirmed USAU background checks.  Our six primary coaches are:

  • Sage Campbell
  • Andrew Charlton
  • Mike Hayes
  • Gabriel Reif
  • Peter Shelburne
  • Will Van Heuvelen

Where will we play?

Practices and games will be held at Groff Park in Amherst.

How much does it cost?

The cost will be $60 per player. In addition, all players must be USAU members. All payments will be made online via PayPal, and will be part of the registration process. You are not registered until payment is made.

Scholarships are available for both the league fee and for USAU fees. Send an email to the league director if you need more information on scholarships.

How does registration work?

To register, click on the ‘Registration’ link in the U19 FALL LEAGUE 2015 section of the Valley Ultimate web page. There are three steps to registration as follows:

1) Login to your USAU membership account and make sure you’ve signed the online waiver and paid your USAU dues.
2) Pay the $60 league fee online right here using PayPal. You can use a credit card and you do not have to create a PayPal account. We are only accepting payments online. Make sure your USAU Membership is up-to-date.
3) Fill out and submit the online registration form.

How will the Cut & Run All-Star Teams work?

Three ‘Cut & Run’ all-star teams will be selected from the league (approximately 45 players) to participate as the ‘Cut & Run’ teams in local all-star games on Saturday October 3 and in the Sharon SOTG Tournament on Sunday October 25. Cut & Run selection will be based on attendance, enthusiasm, and skill level. We anticipate selecting a Girls Team, an Open A team and an Open B team.
